Scott Werner - Varsity Track & Cross Country
A 1996 graduate of Pewamo-Westphalia, Coach Scott Werner is in his 25th season as the Head Coach for both Boy's and Girl's Track and Cross Country teams. He also currently serves as the E-Sports Coach.
Over the course of the last 25 years, numerous personal and school records have been set and broken by his athletes. Coach Werner has led is programs to a total of 50 CMAC Championships. His resume includes 36 MHSAA Team Regional Championships and 12 MHSAA Team State Runner Up finishes. Coach Werner has led his program to 8 MHSAA Team State Championships.
In recognition of his accomplishments, Coach Werner was a National High School Cross Country Coach of the Year Finalist in 2018. He was named to the National Federation of State High Schools Midwest Region Track Coach of the year in both 2015 & 2023. The NFHS also honored Coach Werner as the Midwest Region Cross Country Coach of the Year in 2018.
To further add to his Honors, Coach Werner was inducted into the Michigan Track/Cross Country Coaches Hall of Fame in 2022. In 2023, Coach Werner was selected as the National High School Track Coach of the Year.
Coach Werner and his wife Lisa have two daughters Melanie & Vivian.
When not coaching the Pirates, Coach Werner cheers for Alma College Cross Country & Track, as well as the University of Michigan Football Team. "Go Blue!"
